Has anyone every pondered what the world would look like if the 18-30 year old demographic was actively investing in the capital markets?

I'm trying to actively engage people in my topic, and stir the pot. Here is my Quora post, which I've copied below.
What if the barriers to entry into the stock market were lower? What if young people could easily invest small amounts of money into any stock they desired. What kinds of companies would they invest in? For what reasons would they invest in them? It is my belief that this demographic would be more ideological in nature, less concerned about a company's bottom line and financials and more focused on its social operations and global impact. I would hypothesize that the renewable energy sector, for example, would see much more attention if this group could invest easily. This demographic is passionate about what it believes in. It makes itself heard on the blogs and in the ballots, but it's dollars that make the world go around. If the barriers to entry were lower, perhaps then this demographic could throw some dollars in itself
The idea here is to build a user base, to excite people about my area of interest. I will slowly accumulate email addresses and build my product around these evangelists.
